Easy rides for everyone

Easy rides for everyone

Ride programme 2021

1.  Regular Saturday morning gentle rides – 10-12 miles, 10:00 start, all year round

These are the main feature of the Group’s rides: social rides of about 10-12 miles, maximising use of cycle paths and traffic-free routes, with, of course, the requisite coffee break at half-way.   Meet at Rowheath Pavilion from 9:50 for a 10:00 start, getting back for about 12:30.

Depending on the numbers turning up on any Saturday, ride leaders may split the group, with the two groups going to the same destination – or possibly to different destinations – depending on the numbers and interest on the day.

2.  Monthly extended Saturday morning rides, 9:30 start, April - September, led by John and Hilary

These rides meet at Rowheath Pavilion on the first Saturday of the month at 9.20 for a 9:30 (rather than 10:00) start with a coffee stop at the destination, getting back by early afternoon.  Distances are about 25 - 30 miles, the pace is usually faster than the regular Saturday rides (up to an average of 11 mph) and the routes are sometimes hillier.  They are mainly on quiet lanes but with occasional stretches of main roads.  Destinations are decided on the day.

Rides which explore paths and parks around the city, including the Tame Valley, the Cole Valley and Sutton Park, are longer but usually not much faster nor hillier than regular Saturday rides.

These rides are in addition to the regular Saturday rides, which leave at 10.00 as usual.

3.  Monday and Wednesday rides

For people who can come out on weekdays, there are also rides on Mondays and Wednesdays

The Monday ride leaves Rowheath at 09:45.  We usually go further and faster than the regular Saturday ride.

The Wednesday ride is a mid-week version of the regular Saturday rides - similar pace and distance.  Meet at Rowheath at 09:45.
